Literary Heroin Quiz

I saw this on one of my friend's blogs. It started on someone else's blog on the 16th, but I hadn't heard of it then. So, just for fun, I'm going to answer the questions myself today.

~ The Questions ~
1. Introduce yourself! Divulge your life's vision, likes, dislikes, aspirations, or something completely random!

Well, for privacy reasons, I can't say my name. But I will say I am the middle child in my family, my dad is a pastor, and I'm homeschooled! The LORD saw fit to bless me with two special talents--Singing, and Writing. I never neglect the minute to use those skills, and hope to be an author or performer in the future. I love reading, dancing around outside and singing when nobody is looking, playing my guitar, baking tasty things to eat, and walking around barefoot. As for dislikes...I really hate being up high. It scares me.

What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine?

Well first things first, she must be fearless. Not afraid to speak out for others, stand up for people when they are being persecuted. The heroine knows she must do the right thing, even though it means a big risk to herself.

Share (up to) four heroines of literature that you most admire and relate to.

Carliss from "Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue"
Anne Shirley from "Anne of Green Gables"
Jo March from "Little Women"
Eowyn from "The Lord of the Rings"

Five of your favorite historical novels?
"Pride and Prejudice"
"The Falcon and the Sparrow"
"The Blue Enchantress"
"On the Banks of Plum Creek"
"Little Town on the Prairie"

Out of those five books who is your favorite main character and why?
Probably Dominique from "The Falcon and the Sparrow". She was a Christian, and had a strong belief in God. I always look for that in a main character and I found it in this one.

Out of those five books who is your favorite secondary character and why?
Probably...um...oh dear. I really can't decide on this one.

If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to - and what would you plan to do there?
Oh, it would most likely be Paris, France. I've always dreamed of sitting in one of the outdoor cafes and eating croissant rolls and fancily-shaped ice cream while eyeing a marvelous view of the Eiffle Tower.

What is your favorite time period and culture to read about?
Definitely Medieval Times and the Victorian Era.

You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert. Singing, comedy, recitation - what is your act comprised of?
That, my dear, was a too easy question. I would sing.

If you were to attend a party where each guest was to portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent?
Probably either Carliss from the Knights of Arrethrae series or Eowyn from Lord of the Rings.

What are your sentiments on the subject of chocolate?
Chocolate is heaven in your mouth....except mixed with pretzels. Yech!

Favorite author(s)?
J.R.R. Tolkein
C.S. Lewis
Laura Ingalls Wilder
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Louisa May Alcott
Jane Austen
Marylu Tyndall
Chuck Black

Besides essentials, what would you take on a visiting voyage to a foreign land?
My Journal
Ipod
Camera
A fancy hat(like a beret!)

In which century were most of the books you read written?
Oh well um, they're kind of mixed. I'll have to check.

In your opinion, the ultimate hero in literature is…
Oohh I was really gonna say Frodo but that's only because I like him. I'm gonna go with Aragorn. :D

Describe your ideal dwelling place.
A cozy little cottage in the countryside. On the outside, there would be an stone path that leads through a garden full of roses, lillies, and marigold, with a goldfish pond in the center. On the inside, there would be a neat little library alcove where I keep all my books. The curtains would be lacey and the windows would be open all the time to sound of bluebirds chirping.

Sum up your fashion style in five words.
Skirts, culottes, flip-flops, t-shirts, capris

Have you ever wanted to change a character’s name?
Quite frankly, I've been satisfied with every name in a book.

In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is...
That title belongs to Sauron. He makes most villains look like the Queen of Hearts.

Three favorite Non-fiction books?
"Before You Meet Prince Charming: A Guide to Radiant Purity" is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon?
That being said, I would go swimming, and take long walks outside to gather inspiration.

Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character.
Ok, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year.
Becoming a teenager

Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

A LONG BELATED POST

 BLAJEIFUVNDOGBIJKSNODUIREJNAVUHERZFGNUBHKJRGCVJ

Sorry I just needed to belt out my frustration. I am so so so so soooooooo sorry for not posting in like, three weeks! Life has been busy, school has been...ehhh I don't know....and I haven't been in the mood to post! I feel so ashamed of myself for not keeping you guys updated. When I first started blogging, I doubted I would have time for it but I forced myself to make time and now I keep forgetting to post....sigh. From now on, I'll try to be more active. Tomorrow, expect a "life business" post and soon I shall post another book review. I want to make my blog more interesting to look at.

Erm, Google? What is up with you?

Ok guys, this isn't a long post. I just wanted to pop on and let everyone know I am absolutely fine! If my blog disappeared for a bit, I am really sorry. Google said they detected some "unusual" activity on my account and wouldn't let me login unless I provided my mobile phone number. I got really frustrated and after a few days of unsucessfuly trying to long in, I told my mom about it. So to make a long story short, I didn't wander into a wardrobe and go to Narnia(or Middle Earth for that reason). It was just technical difficulties.

For those who thought I had actually left, I am truely sorry. I would never leave Blogger if my life depended on it.

February: The Month of Love

Well I'd pretty well consider it so. Valentine's Day is this month, so hey! Not that I'm really into the cupid stuff, I just like getting the chocolate hearts.

So, how's it been? I've been behind in my schoolwork and due to that, I have found my head too crammed to post. But now I'm all caught up and my brain is clearing. Things just haven't been my way in the school area lately....History is the Civil War, which I am good at that but it depends on how many problems are in the lesson or quiz. Like one quiz I had last week had over thirty-some questions...I can't take that. Bible is on the persecution of the Church. Language Arts is(thankfully not a lot of scary grammar) on writing tips or something. Math is easy(for once! Thank the LORD). And Science is....on...quite frankly at the moment, I forget.

Life has been fine. I'll be getting a new guitar soon so I'm excited for that! See, I've had my old one for about a few years now, and my music teacher says my fingers have pretty well gotten used to it(and I can agree to that), so it is time for me to get a bigger one. I've really progressed far in my music. I've gone from picking strings to strumming, which I'm still working on. It's fun, hard(with the fact I have to move my fingers around alot), and sometimes even easy. I think it's worth it.

I think my dog is upset. See, Pets Mart sent us a birthday coupon for her, so it means she turned a year older. Penny is now 5, but acts like she is still a puppy. I asked her how she liked being a year older and, being a grumpy dog, she groaned.  Was it bad that I laughed? It's like she actually understood me. Oh well, I guess I can agree with her. The years go by so fast and the next minute you are actually grown up.

I'm upset to say I've progressed no further in my stories, except I am in the middle of yet ANOTHER one. I'm coming up with ideas every minute of my life. Sometimes I'm glad I have a second talent, that way I can succeed in that if the other fails. But I'm glad for night time! It gives me a while to think about what I want. Like I said before, I have no idea how I want to begin my stories. THAT IS ALWAYS MY PROBLEM.

On the subject of real life, well...things in my home have been...say...interesting. My brother is busy with college stuff and it's driving me nuts. See, he graduated High School last year. And now he is going to college this fall. He is also planning to volunteer at the summer camp I went to last year. Oh great...anyways, Dad is getting a new computer, which means he is going to move the one in the room to the living room, and that one is going to his church office. Sound complicated? Then you don't know my dad. He is excellent with computer stuff.

I don't know how many times I've honestly watched "The Hobbit" movie trailer. I have to wait until December for it to come out! I have the up-most faith in Peter Jackson to make this one good, as he did beautifully with Lord of the Rings which I am a big fan of. The cast looks great. And my sister(who read the book) says they've left out nothing so far, except for the fact of adding new characters and bringing back some of the old ones. And frankly, I'm anxious to see how it all turns out.

Yes, 2012 will be a year of great movies. The one I mentioned above will be coming out, then there will be the Disney/Pixar movie "Brave", and well...I really don't know any others. I just know that there will be a lot I want to see.

Well, I think that's all I wanted to say. I'll leave you with a video! YES!  A video!

In honor of the best Disney film that was just re-released in 3D.

Ehhh.....I don't what to call this

I've honestly got nothing to call this post. I did think of the Post of Randomness, buuuuuuuuut that sounded kinda cheesy to me.

So sorry for not posting lately! I know you've all been begging me to make more posts but I've just been slightly lazy again. My days have been....interesting.

Over the course of time that I haven't kept you informed, my older sis turned sixteen. But you wouldn't know how long it took me to find the right gift for her. First I look in movies, nothing there that I could really afford. Looked in t-shirts, but we couldn't find the right size. Looked in necklaces, found some nice ones but then I knew what she really needed. I got her a nice grownup watch. While there I kept pointing out things I wanted and that frustrated my mom, cuz she kept reminding me my birthday was months away and I had plenty of time to decide. It's never too early! And plus I also found a huge Hello Kitty alarm clock that I was going to buy with my Christmas money, but it wasn't there last time. It's always there when I'm shopping for someone other than me.

Sister(11)'s basketball games have started, which I'm usually not fond of going to them, but I made the exception. It's an all girls team and they won! Sis nearly got a shot in but that retarded buzzer went off. I brought my i-pod to try and drown the coaching parents, but that was failed. Can't say I didn't try. See, that's a reason I truly hate going to games. I feel like looking around and shouting "HEY, I came to watch my sister play, not have some loud adult yelling nonsense behind my back, so be quiet!".

If any of you have been getting snow, then you are quite lucky. I really want snow. All I've gotten is wind and rain, that's all REALLY YUCKY. My poor doggie had to be chained outside earlier when it was pouring outside and I had half a mind to go cover her with my umbrella. She looked so pitiful! So yeah, I ended up getting her inside after she was done eating her breakfast and now she owes me to behave.

So far I've spent my day doing...school....watching TV....all the usual routine things. I was kind of behind in Bible because I couldn't find my CD. After tearing through my room, I finally found it mixed in my with one of my sister's school CDs. How it got there I don't know, but I'm really glad I found it.

I have been typing stories! My first Sarah Winchester mystery...eh...I've not really made progress. If you bring up the document I've placed it in, all you'll see is the title "The Amsterdam Diamond". Yes I'm so horrible! I'm at loss of how to begin it. I know I'm awesome at middle chapters. I'm working on endings! But I'm so horrible at beginning stories! That's always been my problem from the first day I started writing short stories and many unfinished novels. But I will succeed this time! I will!

Also on the subject of writing, I am planning on doing a historical-fiction as soon as my first mystery is done and out of the way. Not sure which time period, maybe the 18th century, the era of wigs and fancy-schmancy ballgowns. THAT has to be my favorite, after reading so many that take place there(aka The Charles Town Belles series).

Well, I think that's all my fingers can handle typing right now.

Describe me in one word...

I've been so lazy as to not posting. Well, let's just say the weather was absolutely disgusting yesterday and I didn't feel up to the task of informing you all of my life. Today I want a change of pace. I'll talk about my writing!
Did you even think I write stories? Of course I do, but so far, as of now, have been finished. I have get going just fine and then I get stuck. It happens every time, maybe because I don't have a firm enough plot? As the years have went by, I have realized mistakes I have made in my writing. Now I'm much better, and I'm going to try my hand at writing a series. And getting it published(hopefully!). I want to be an author so badly.

They are going to be mysteries, because as you may know already, I LOVE MYSTERIES. So that'll be easy. The next step is getting the main characters together. And I already did that!

My main character is a fourteen-year old girl named Sarah Winchester. She's a homeschooler, travels alot, and likes to read. She also has a Nancy Drew-type personality.

I promise, as soon as the first chapter of the first book is all done and written, I'll post it on another blog made specially for my writing.

2012?

To me, it seems only yesterday that 2011 started. Now I must try and survive another 2012? It's going to be interesting to see what happens for the next twelve months....and did I mention I turn 14 in June?!?! That's like...five months away. As always at the start of a new year and month, I start making plans. Let me see....four months til' the homeschool conference, five months til' my birthday(which I already mentioned! I have to wait so long!), three months til' Spring Break.

So how was Christmas for everyone? Mine was ok, I guess. BUT WAIT! I GOT AN AWESOME PRESENT AMONGST OTHERS!!!! LOOK!

(sorry for the bad quality but I took this with my webcam, mind you)

A pink i-pod shuffle! And I already have like...ten or something songs on it. This is my favorite out of all presents. Speaking of presents, let me show you the ENTERTAINMENT I GOT.

One of the movies I precisely asked for! Kind of disappointed it wasn't Beauty and the Beast, but I wanted this one just as much.

So, those are the only ones that interested me. Oh yeah, and I also got some perfume or something to smell good, and a snowglobe, and a pair of striped gloves from big brother. And my little sister got me an awesome purple compact mirror with a rainbow-leopard pattern on it. I guess I got my good share of items.

And as you also have noticed by now, I have renovated my blog. Still not done with the sidebar items, as I am still trying to find some blinkies and such to put there besides the ones I already have.
