Musical Mondays #2

At long last, I'm making a post again. And since it's Monday, do you know what time it is?

**Drum Roll**

That's right, it's time for Musical Monday! And don't worry, I'm not gonna drive you guys crazy with Disney yet.

I know last time I posted something Lord of the Rings related, but I'm also doing the same this week. There are just so many wonderfully composed pieces from that movie and believe me, I had a tough time deciding which one to post. After some debating and some careful thinking, I finally decided on this beautiful song:

In Dreams

When the cold of Winter comes
Starless night will cover day
In the veiling of the sun
We will walk in bitter rain

But in dreams
(But in dreams)
I can hear your name
And in dreams
(And in dreams)
We will meet again

When the seas and mountains fall
And we come to end of days
In the dark I hear a call
Calling me there
I will go there
And back again

The Post Without a Title

After I don't know how long, the Internet has returned, as I have also made my joyous return to blogosphere! But where to start...a few things have happened!

My brother went on a trip a few weeks back. It was surprisingly quiet and lonely without him around. I got jealous when I heard how much fun he was having, but then I reminded myself that I would be doing something fun in a couple of months. I was happy when he came back home, but I was extra happy for another reason. Why? Well, while on the trip, he went shopping at a Wal-Mart. He called up later saying he had a surprise for me when he got back. I spent all weekend trying to figure out what it was, but when I did find out, I was ecstatic! Observe:

Oh, is that me in the background? :D

If you had not known already, I have been wanting this game like ever since I first heard of it. I've watched a  million gameplays of it on Youtube and continually dreamed of the day I would actually play it myself. So awesome. If you guys haven't gotten this game yet, I totally recommend it!

I wonder what is wrong with my hair. Last Saturday night, it was my mom vs. my hair in a terror-filled showdown...in other words, my hair tangles easily and my mom was having a fight trying to comb them out of my hair. Sometimes she has to snip through it, and if you saw my tangles you would agree. I mean, seriously. My hair has been like that since I was little. Believe me it hurts when you have your mother ferociously combing at a thick knot in your hair. To make a long story short, my hair is absolutely tangle-free at the moment.

School has been meh. There's only six and a half more weeks...at least I think. I'm super-excited, as my brain will have a chance to rebuild. Yes sir, lots of great things are happening. There's the yearly homeschool conference my family goes to, my 14th birthday(in June!), and summer camp! My life is an adventure right now!

Just recently, my mom and sisters and I went through all our old clothing and sorted them into piles(it's because my mom was thinking of donating most of them, which we did). And believe me, you wouldn't believe how much stuff we found. You should have seen it! It looked like we could open our own thrift store, but we didn't.

Amongst these items, I found old memories. Lots of dresses that belonged to me and my sisters as little kids. Little shoes. Little pants. Little shirts. It makes me miss the days when I was that size and was enjoying life.

I think I've covered the major areas and updates of my life right now. And since I am still reeling from my Sims Medieval Gleefulness, I will leave you with the main theme of the game, which, I might add, is epic!

Houston, We Have a Problem

Hey guys. By the title...you can already guess. Yes, a problem is going on. The reason for the lack of posts recently this week is because the Internet at my house has been going nuts. How am I typing this post, you ask? Well I'm currently at the Library and on one of their computers. So yeah, expect a post maybe tomorrow? Where I'll tell you everything that's going on.

Musical Mondays

I love music. And I'll bet you can guess that by now. So therefore, I officially declare every monday, a favorite song shall be posted. And that makes this: Musical Monday.

By now you are probably thinking, "Oh great, she's gonna drive us crazy with Disney music every Monday." Well you are wrong. Disney is not the only music that I love. In my favorites, I love piano music, Celtic(as Irish is in me blood), and violin just to name a few. And while browsing Youtube one day, I came across this...

It just like...blew my mind! Now you all know I am a big fan of Lord of the Rings, and, as I previously mentioned, violin music combined with singing. And this pretty well summed it up for me! Very beautiful, very well done. And I just love her dress! It reminds me so much of Eowyn's white dress in The Two Towers.

Literary Heroin Quiz

I saw this on one of my friend's blogs. It started on someone else's blog on the 16th, but I hadn't heard of it then. So, just for fun, I'm going to answer the questions myself today.

~ The Questions ~
1. Introduce yourself! Divulge your life's vision, likes, dislikes, aspirations, or something completely random!

Well, for privacy reasons, I can't say my name. But I will say I am the middle child in my family, my dad is a pastor, and I'm homeschooled! The LORD saw fit to bless me with two special talents--Singing, and Writing. I never neglect the minute to use those skills, and hope to be an author or performer in the future. I love reading, dancing around outside and singing when nobody is looking, playing my guitar, baking tasty things to eat, and walking around barefoot. As for dislikes...I really hate being up high. It scares me.

What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine?

Well first things first, she must be fearless. Not afraid to speak out for others, stand up for people when they are being persecuted. The heroine knows she must do the right thing, even though it means a big risk to herself.

Share (up to) four heroines of literature that you most admire and relate to.

Carliss from "Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue"
Anne Shirley from "Anne of Green Gables"
Jo March from "Little Women"
Eowyn from "The Lord of the Rings"

Five of your favorite historical novels?
"Pride and Prejudice"
"The Falcon and the Sparrow"
"The Blue Enchantress"
"On the Banks of Plum Creek"
"Little Town on the Prairie"

Out of those five books who is your favorite main character and why?
Probably Dominique from "The Falcon and the Sparrow". She was a Christian, and had a strong belief in God. I always look for that in a main character and I found it in this one.

Out of those five books who is your favorite secondary character and why?
Probably...um...oh dear. I really can't decide on this one.

If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to - and what would you plan to do there?
Oh, it would most likely be Paris, France. I've always dreamed of sitting in one of the outdoor cafes and eating croissant rolls and fancily-shaped ice cream while eyeing a marvelous view of the Eiffle Tower.

What is your favorite time period and culture to read about?
Definitely Medieval Times and the Victorian Era.

You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert. Singing, comedy, recitation - what is your act comprised of?
That, my dear, was a too easy question. I would sing.

If you were to attend a party where each guest was to portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent?
Probably either Carliss from the Knights of Arrethrae series or Eowyn from Lord of the Rings.

What are your sentiments on the subject of chocolate?
Chocolate is heaven in your mouth....except mixed with pretzels. Yech!

Favorite author(s)?
J.R.R. Tolkein
C.S. Lewis
Laura Ingalls Wilder
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Louisa May Alcott
Jane Austen
Marylu Tyndall
Chuck Black

Besides essentials, what would you take on a visiting voyage to a foreign land?
My Journal
Ipod
Camera
A fancy hat(like a beret!)

In which century were most of the books you read written?
Oh well um, they're kind of mixed. I'll have to check.

In your opinion, the ultimate hero in literature is…
Oohh I was really gonna say Frodo but that's only because I like him. I'm gonna go with Aragorn. :D

Describe your ideal dwelling place.
A cozy little cottage in the countryside. On the outside, there would be an stone path that leads through a garden full of roses, lillies, and marigold, with a goldfish pond in the center. On the inside, there would be a neat little library alcove where I keep all my books. The curtains would be lacey and the windows would be open all the time to sound of bluebirds chirping.

Sum up your fashion style in five words.
Skirts, culottes, flip-flops, t-shirts, capris

Have you ever wanted to change a character’s name?
Quite frankly, I've been satisfied with every name in a book.

In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is...
That title belongs to Sauron. He makes most villains look like the Queen of Hearts.

Three favorite Non-fiction books?
"Before You Meet Prince Charming: A Guide to Radiant Purity" is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon?
That being said, I would go swimming, and take long walks outside to gather inspiration.

Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character.
Ok, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year.
Becoming a teenager

Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Life has been busy, school has been...ehhh I don't know....and I haven't been in the mood to post! I feel so ashamed of myself for not keeping you guys updated. When I first started blogging, I doubted I would have time for it but I forced myself to make time and now I keep forgetting to post....sigh. From now on, I'll try to be more active. Tomorrow, expect a "life business" post and soon I shall post another book review. I want to make my blog more interesting to look at.
